Melrose House is an extensive mid terraced house on the sea front between Tynemouth and Whitley bay, registered for adults with learning difficulties and adults with mental ill health.
It consists of 3 floors with care provided to 9 residents. There are currently 9 single bedrooms.
There is a spacious lounge to the front of the property, which overlooks the sea with a large dinning room to the rear. There is also large garden to the rear of the home.
Melrose house provides residential care to people who live there. Each person has his or her own key worker who is responsible for the co-ordination of the care package for that individual. People are encouraged to use community based facilities as much as possible and many of the residents access day services, various types of employment and numerous activities in the evenings.
The principles underpinning care at Melrose house is based upon personal planning and person centred practices. Each person is seen as an individual and as such the service provided is very much individually focused.
All care packages are reviewed internally and each person has their own personal planning meeting in which they are encouraged to take a central part, which includes invitations, chairing and agreeing goals. This is done with the support of the keyworker throughout.
Personal planning is used to gain insight into each person's needs and requirements and from this, the care and support is designed to meet the assessed needs of each individual person.
