The Grange: Sovereign Care North EastHighfield House is divided into 2 units, one which offers residential care to older people and the second which provides care to older people suffering from dementia. The residential care unit has 14 places all of which is provided with single room accommodation. Our EMI unit has 13 places again all with single room accommodation.

Both units have their own lounges and dining areas along with their own dedicated staff teams. We have a courtyard garden which is specially designed for older people with dementia. The care offered is built around person centred care for each person. All of our staff are highly trained and dedicated. Our staff team who work in our EMI unit have additional training in dementia care as guided by the research from Sterling university.

All care packages are reviewed internally and each person has their own personal planning meeting in which they are encouraged to take a central part.

Personal planning is used to gain insight into each person's needs and requirements and from this the care and support is designed to meet the assessed needs of each individual person.

Highfield House Flower Planter Winners with team members Ken Pooley (Volunteer) and Janet Common (Staff) – May 2011

Blooming Marvellous

Congratulations to Highfield House Residential Care Home on winning our best in show planter competition. Last autumn, MIND Active volunteer Ken Pooley supported older people living in residential care and nursing homes in the area to plant up planters and tubs with several layers of spring flowering bulbs and Winter Pansies for the competition.

" We all had a great time planting the bulbs and flowers where residents got their hands dirty and talked and remembered about gardens and allotments they once enjoyed. A very worthwhile effort by all involved"
. Said Ken.

The winners received a bottle of Port courtesy of Ken.
